this week i worked with some incredible dancers. on a regular day, this would have been a non issue, but who knew my spin or a simple toe tap could look so off next to such professionals!
my real thought lies in deodorant, though, as i watched a dancer apply and then powder (she had powder specifically for her pits to blend the deodorant to her dark skin). there are so many chemicals that go into a speedstick....could there be a direct link to breast cancer in women that regularly use deodorant?
not that wikipedia is all knowing, but it does say--
There is no scientific evidence supporting widespread rumors that aluminum salts in deodorants can cause alzheimer's or breast cancer. Amongst others, research published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute[4] found no evidence whatsoever that these compounds increase the risk of breast cancer.
i know trader joes offers an alternative brand that doesn't use harmful ingredients like aluminum chlorohydrate because wikipedia also say--
However, aluminium is a neurotoxin that alters the function of the blood-brain barrier[5], and it is one of the few abundant elements that appears to have no beneficial function to living cells.
it can't hurt to try an alternative....
i am already on soy milk. yuuuum!
